Tobu Railway Partners with HalalTrip to Enhance Muslim-Friendly Travel in Japan

Feb 2026

As Muslim-friendly travel in Japan continues to gain momentum, transport providers are playing an increasingly important role in shaping accessible and inclusive visitor experiences. Tobu Railway, one of Japan’s major private railway operators, has taken concrete steps to support Muslim travelers by strengthening Muslim-friendly offerings across key destinations connected by its rail network.

Through enhanced facilities and strategic collaboration, Tobu Railway is contributing to Japan’s broader efforts to improve readiness for Halal travel and better serve the needs of Muslim visitors.

Collaboration with HalalTrip: A Media Journey Through the TOBU Railway Region

To showcase Muslim-friendly travel experiences in Japan, Tobu Railway partnered with HalalTrip on a four-day, four-night media trip highlighting destinations accessible via the TOBU Railway network. This trip specifically highlights rail travel as a seamless way to explore Japan’s cultural heritage, scenic landscapes, and regional destinations beyond major cities; with cities like Nikko and Kawagoe included in the itinerary.

The journey was conducted as a KOL-led experience featuring @benakribo, @khalilwhid, and @navito_halal. Through first-hand exploration, the collaboration aimed to demonstrate how Muslim travelers can navigate the region comfortably while accessing faith-sensitive services and experiences; focusing on transport connectivity, attractions, and practical considerations for Muslim travelers exploring Japan.

Muslim-Friendly Facilities Along the Tobu Railway Network

As part of its Muslim-friendly initiatives, Tobu Railway has introduced dedicated prayer spaces and improved access to Halal-friendly dining options at selected locations. Designated prayer rooms are available at Tobu Nikko Station and Tobu World Square, two popular stops for both domestic and international visitors.

These initiatives reflect Tobu Railway’s recognition that Muslim-friendly travel is increasingly part of mainstream tourism expectations. By providing practical facilities such as prayer rooms at transport hubs and attractions, the transportation provider is helping normalize inclusive design within rail-based tourism, allowing Muslim travelers to move confidently through the region alongside other visitors.

Such efforts demonstrate how transport operators can play a meaningful role in advancing inclusive tourism by aligning operational planning with the evolving needs of global traveler segments.

Follow the Journey on HalalTrip

Highlights and stories from the media trip will be shared across HalalTrip’s digital platforms, offering Muslim travelers insights into Halal travel options, Muslim-friendly facilities, and rail-connected destinations in Japan.

Through its collaboration with HalalTrip and continued investment in Muslim-friendly facilities, Tobu Railway illustrates how mainstream transport networks can support inclusive tourism growth in Japan. As Muslim travel demand continues to expand globally, initiatives like these help shape a travel environment where accessibility, cultural awareness, and faith considerations are increasingly integrated into standard visitor experiences.
